Potluck Dinner - 6:30 p.m., Friday, July 23 at the church. William Shaw, Ph.D. will speak about his experiences in integrative medicine: “The four most commonly overlooked factors that influence health.” Bring a dish to share. For more information contact Barb Lisher at 913.631.6499 or ucopcouples@gmail.com.

Dr Shaw, Ph.D. is the author of “Biological Treatments for Autism and PDD. What’s going on? What can you do about it?” He became involved in the field of integrative medicine as a result of a couple of events in helping his neighbors and family with health problems that were not successfully treated by mainstream medicine. The four most commonly overlooked factors that result in chronic illness are:

1) excessive allergies especially food allergies to wheat and milk
2) abnormal intestinal flora primarily due to antibiotic overuse
3) exposure to toxic chemicals
4) Vitamin, mineral, or essential fats deficiencies even for people on healthy diets

Many severe chronic illnesses can be treated with a considerable degree of success by addressing the four factors listed above. Dr Shaw will give examples of successful treatments of autism, attention deficit, chronic fatigue syndrome/fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, and severe neuropsychiatric disorders by addressing the factors listed above.

Prayer for Gulf Coast from Unity’s Earth Care Team

In times when it seems circumstances are out of our control, we can pause and go within. Take this moment to go within and find the peace that is God; find the order that is ever-present within and around us all.

We affirm and have faith that the Universe is well ordered and even now, in the seemingly overwhelming conditions of the Gulf Coast oil spill, God is at work through nature, through the minds and hearts of the people repairing and cleaning the spill.

Even now, there is order in the ocean as it rallies to recover, repair and heal. All the creatures of the ocean and surrounding areas that are affected are part of the process that is unfolding. Our faith tells us that from the darkness comes the dawn … a new day is at hand.

We now affirm that we come out of this experience with a deeper understanding of how precious our waters are. We are inspired to act in ways that nurture and heal our earth and its oceans, rivers, lakes and streams. We are filled with knowledge and a deep spiritual understanding of what is ours to do. We take action with confidence, knowing we are part of the Divine Order that is unfolding in this and every circumstance and condition.

We are grateful for solutions, for wise actions, for swift healing.

And so it is
.
