Trunk or Treat
Sunday, October 29, 2017
4:30 to 6:30pm in the parking lot of
Unity Church of Overland Park
10300 Antioch Rd (corner of 103rd & Antioch)
October 29th is going to be a big day for our church family! Unity Church of Overland Park wants to offer our local families a safe, fun environment in which to go trick or treating! We are inviting everyone to grab all "the little monsters" and come by Unity Church from 4:30 to 6:30 pm Sunday, October 29. We invite you, our church family, to decorate your cars and get yourselves all costumed-up, then arrive by at least 4:00 pm where we will all park our bedazzled cars in a big circle in our parking lot with our trunks open for the kids to go "trunk or treating" from one car to another!
Earlier that day, after the 10 am Community Sunday Service, we will gather for our Potluck and the Fall Faith Live Basket Auction in Harmony Hall at 11 am. Then we plan to hold a "Pumpkin Carving Contest" for all those who want to stay and carve a pumpkin (which you will need to bring yourself). You can also carve a pumpkin at home at bring it with you to the Trunk or Treat at 4:30, where they will all be lined up, and lit up, on the fence surrounding the picnic area on the side of the church. The winner will be decided upon by the vote of the children who take part in the fun activities our Youth Director, Julie Connor, has planned for that picnic area. There will be fun Halloween Storytime (with sound effects of course!) and Halloween games going on there beside the church.
Now, if you're not much for decorating or dressing up or carving pumpkins, there's still a way for you to help support this super-fun community-building event!
We need CANDY! Last year's Trunk or Treat was a big success, but we all woefully underestimated the amount of candy we would need, and many emergency runs had to be made to stores to replenish in the midst of the whole thing. So, to avoid that sort of emergency this year, we are collecting candy donations now in the lobby. There will be a great big container decorated for Halloween sitting in the lobby to collect your sweet and generous donations. And then, of course, we want everyone to drop by on Sunday, October 29 at 4:30 pm for some spooktacular fun! Because Halloween is too much fun to be just one night of the year!
