Fall Bird Migration Event

Loess Bluffs
(formerly Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge)
UCOP rendezvous at 5:15 am to car pool
Sunrise at Loess Bluffs at 7:23 am
Once again, the UCOP Men’s Group is sponsoring a trip to Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge (now called Loess Bluffs), near St. Joseph, MO. The trip will be on Saturday morning, December 2nd. As we want to be at the refuge to see the geese leave the water, we will need to be at the refuge about 7:00am. Sunrise is at 7:23. We will leave the UCOP lot about 5:15 am. Last year we saw about 100,000 geese leave the water at daybreak. This is an awesome sight as they leave the water, Nature's Majesty in flight!
The geese leave the water to go feed or resume their migration south. Eagles can also be seen on the drive around the refuge. Hiking trails are available for those so inclined. After experiencing this event, we will all go to St Joseph for breakfast at Perkins. Expect to be back in KC about noon.
