Talking Your Walk – Listening and speaking from authenticity, empathy and compassion

This class is an introduction to Nonviolent Communication. Experiential in nature, class participants will learn to speak in ways that increase authenticity, empathy, and compassion. In addition, participants will come to more deeply embody the core values of UCOP by, 1) learning to be more Spirit-Led by connecting with the Oneness of universal needs and being more authentic; 2) learning to be more Inclusive by being compassionate and empathetic; 3) learning to be more Loving by being aware of the beauty of their needs; 4) learning to be more Joyous by feeling more aliveness and peacefulness; and 5) learning to be more Abundant in life as new strategies and answers arise from a more compassionate, connected place in life. Suggested love offering: $10 per session

Jan Stanley and Heidi Darrow have been involved with teaching Compassionate Communication for four years in classroom settings and workshops. They have been working with elementary school children, teaching them how to feel peace and speak peace. They have also been involved with the Peace in Action team at UCOP since its inception, with the primary focus being on being the peace they wish to see in the world. Heidi also serves as a Prayer Chaplain at UCOP and Jan offers her skills as a mediator and trainer.
